Do you need meals to meet special dietary requirements? December 29 2016, 0 Comments

Due to an increased number of requests for meals that meet specific dietary requirements we are considering offering dietary specific meals in 2017 as part of our meal deals.

This will depend upon customer demand and subsequently we request you contact us if you are interested.

New website feature: Schedule a regular delivery November 21 2016, 0 Comments

You asked for it!

Our customers now have the ability to schedule a regular weekly or fortnightly order of organic meals, fruit & veg and grocery items.

This new website feature is great for those who would like to receive a regular order but don't want the hassle of having to place an order each week.

Never miss an order deadline again!

You also have the ability to amend, add to or delete items from your regular order in addition to cancelling or pausing an order at any time

* Please adhere to order deadlines when amending or cancelling an order

How it works:

Hop onto the website and shop as normal. You will notice the item description will then prompt you to make either a one off purchase or a “subscription”. If you wish to have items delivered regularly select the “subscription” option and then select your frequency. E.g. weekly or fortnightly.

For twice weekly meal deliveries you will need to set two different delivery schedules.

Within the same transaction you can have a combination of items you wish to receive on a regular basis, in addition to items you require as a one off.

You also have control over how long your subscription lasts for & will only be charged for each subsequent subscription order a few days prior to delivery, just as you would if you placed an order online without the subscription function.

Upon placing your subscription you are emailed a link which allows you to alter your order at any time (must be logged into the website to use this function).

Prior to each scheduled delivery we will continue to email you a confirmation of your delivery and approximate timeframe for delivery. A refund will be processed for any items which are unavailable at the time of delivery, or where applicable they will be placed in your following order, or a replacement item provided (at the customer’s agreement).

Now sit back and wait for your delivery to arrive…….

Terms & Conditions:

By placing an order utilising the subscription function you agree to the following conditions -

  • - Order amendments or cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to delivery or at our discretion we reserve the right to process your order and payment in full.
  • - Special dietary requirements or delivery instructions must be made in the “comments” box when ordering to ensure we receive a prompt regarding these each time we are preparing your order
  • - If an item is no longer available we will make attempts to contact the customer and suggest a suitable alternate item, where appropriate. Otherwise a refund will be processed within 24-48 hours.
  • - The onus is on the customer to provide an appropriate cooler box , esky etc if you have ordered perishable items & not expected to be home at the time of delivery.
  • - We do not take responsibility for items which have spoilt due to weather or are stolen in your absence if you are not at home at the time of the scheduled delivery.
  • - If a payment for your scheduled delivery fails we will attempt to contact you initially via email, prompting you to ensure appropriate funds are available or updating your card details so we can reattempt payment. Orders will not be processed without full payment.
  • - Utilisation of discount codes which don’t apply to your circumstances will not be tolerated and may result in an invoice being forwarded to the customer, requiring payment prior to delivery.

Our recipe for rice paper rolls November 07 2016, 0 Comments

Rice paper rolls are a delicious refreshing meal or snack & perfect for the warmer weather. They also make a great addition to school lunch boxes or beach or after school snacks.

We have included our recipe for chicken rice paper rolls below, however you can get really creative and omit the chicken and use grilled vegetables, tempeh or hommus for a vegan / vegetarian version.

Edible flowers are also a beautiful addition to step your presentation up a notch.

    Chicken rice paper rolls

    Tools / equipment:

    Sharp knife

20cm round (or larger) quiche or similar dish. Used to soak your rice paper sheets in.

    1pk rice paper sheets

    1pk vermicelli noodles

One cooked chicken breast or some left over shredded roast chicken

Baby spinach or baby salad mix

    Grated carrot

    Grated zucchini

    Grated beetroot

    Cucumber cut into thin batons

Herbs of your choice (we use mint or coriander)

Cook and shred or thinly slice your chicken

Wash and grate / cut all your vegetables

Prepare your vermicelli noodles according to directions on the pack. Most will require a short soak in in warm water, then rinsed and drained

Immerse your rice paper sheet in warm water for approx. 10 seconds. Then place on a clean flat surface.

TIP: Make sure you work quickly once your rice paper sheet is on your work surface as they have a tendency to stick.

Add spinach leaves / salad in a row down the middle, followed by the remainder of the vegetables. Top with some vermicelli noodles and herbs.

TIP: play around with the placement of the veggies on the rice paper roll sheet. We always place spinach first to give a vibrant green strip when rolled. Edible flowers look great if layed down first, as does red capsicum (when in season).

Then fold in the ends of the top and bottom, before firming folding and rolling from one side to another to form a cylinder shape / roll. Repeat until you have completed as many rice paper rolls as you require. (See video on how to roll)

TIP: Completed Rice paper rolls can easily dry out so for best results keep them on a bed of spinach or lettuce (to prevent sticking) and place in an airtight container.

We highly recommend purchasing rice paper sheets that are 18cm or larger as although the smaller cocktail versions look cute, they are fiddly and a lot more difficult to work with. Trust us!

Serve with sweet chilli, tamari or peanut sesame sauce

For a paleo friendly version trying using kelp or Konjac noodles instead of vermicelli  and Bok Choi (when in season) instead of rice paper sheets

What's in season for November? November 07 2016, 0 Comments

Buying fruit and veg in season is always the most economical way to shop.

We always recommend our customers wait a few weeks after an item first pops up for season before purchasing.  When all the organics retailers are scrambling to get their hands on a limited amount of produce from a farmer, it drives the price up. If you are patient and wait until the fruit or veg is in more abundance, the price drops, making it a more economical way to shop.

The below What's in season guide is thanks to Australian Organic. As you may notice, the list is a little shorter than usual as many of the winter / spring produce has finished and the summer produce is yet to arrive. Keep your eyes peeled for stone fruits which are just starting to arrive.

RECIPE: Our Easy Organic Roast Beetroot Hommus Dip May 03 2016, 0 Comments

Our easy Organic Roast beetroot hommus

This vibrant healthy beet hommus was used in our Organic Meal Deals last week.

    • Bunch of baby beets / 3 medium beetroot
    • Can chickpeas
    • Olive oil
    • garlic clove or organic crushed garlic
    • Tahini (optional)
    • Lemon (juiced)
    • salt
    • pepper

    1. Cut the ends off your beets but leave the remainder of the skin intact
    2. Wrap your beets in foil and drizzle with a little olive oil and salt
    3. Roast beets in the oven for approx. 30 – 40 mins on 180 degrees or until soft (this will depend on what size beets you use)
    4. Once roasted allow to cool and then pop in the food processor and blend
    5. Add one can of drained, washed chickpeas
    6. Add the juice of one lemon
    7. Add one clove of crushed garlic
    8. Blend together in food processor
    9. Add olive oil whilst the ingredients are blending until it forms a smooth thick paste consistency. If it’s still grainy add a little lemon and oil
    10. Add salt and pepper to taste

You could also add a mild chilli, cumin or tahini to flavour to your taste, however we didn’t use in our batch as the beetroot flavour was strong enough

    Enjoy! GM.

    New 5 x Organic Meal Deals May 01 2016, 0 Comments

We have just made eating healthy even easier!

Due to popular demand we have packaged 5 of our popular organic meals together for a special price. There are vegan meal options too!

Our meals are made using fresh certified organic and biodynamic ingredients from in store and available for pick up or delivery each Saturday.

Take a peek at the current menus

Where can I find your menu?

You can find a copy of a menu for the current and following week on our website. Just click the organic meals category.  There is also a copy available in store to view.

It’s not viable for us to print menus given our menu rotates on a weekly basis to keep things interesting, allowing us to eat more seasonally & showcase our beautiful fresh produce.

What if I don’t like one of the meals on the plan?

If you do not like a particular meal on the plan, you may substitute it for one of the meals on the alternate meal plan. For example if you are ordering from week 2 meal deal (regular) you may choose a substitute a meal from the meal deal (vegan) plan. You can use the comments section when ordering online to indicate this preference.

Only one substitution is allowed per order.

If you have particular dietary restrictions that need to be accommodated please email us regarding custom meals. These incur additional costs.

How do I place an order?

The easiest way is to order meals is online, selecting the relevant meal plan and entering your details for delivery and pick up.

Alternatively you can email us with your preferences and contact details and we can send you through an invoice (Remember to check your junk folder ) or order and pay in store. An order is not considered final until invoice has been paid.

If you require meals each week on an ongoing  basis, email us and we will arrange for an invoice to be automatically sent to you each week . Orders are not considered final until paid so if you need to skip a week  there is no obligation, just don’t pay your invoice.

Orders close each Wednesday evening at 8pm.

What if I missed the order deadline?

If you missed the order deadline we suggest you email us ASAP to see whether we can accommodate a late order, or try your luck and see what ready made meals are available in store.

What days are meal orders available?

Currently the meal deals are only available to collect / for delivery on Saturday’s allowing us to prepare in bulk and keep our costs low.

At Green Mumma HQ we always have a section of take home packs in store for you to grab.  We may consider offering an additional delivery / pick up day depending upon demand.

    Are the meals freezable?

The meals from the “meal deals” have been selected so a majority of them freeze very well (if required), however as they are prepared fresh the day / evening prior to delivery this often isn’t required.

We don’t recommend freezing the meals from the Lighten up package as they are lighter salad options, apart from the soups which freeze very well.

    How much is home delivery?

We charge a $7 delivery fee or orders over $80.01 currently have free delivery. In store pick up is free.

You may like to opt to add some other items to your order such as raw desserts, Emma and Tom’s life juices or a fruit and vegetable box to be eligible for free delivery.

We also offer FREE DELIVERY with each mystery organic produce box so this is a great way to get your meals delivered for free and to have a fridge full of fresh produce.

Do you provide a nutritional break down of meals?

Unfortunately we do not offer nutritional break downs of meals. Our focus is to providing wholesome nourishing meals using fresh certified organic and biodynamic ingredients, not calorie counting.

The best apple cider vinegar out there? February 12 2016, 0 Comments

Most of us have read about the myriad of health benefits and uses for Apple Cider Vinegar including -

    - Alkalising properties

    - High in potassium

    - Anti bacterial, Anti fungal properties

    - Used to treat fungal infections, sore throats, to wash hair & as a salad dressing

To benefit from Apple Cider Vinegar, you need to look for one that is organic, raw and unfiltered, with the mother culture still in the bottle.

Although some of the overseas brands are very popular, we prefer to use the Biodynamic* Apple Cider Vinegar which comes from the Mock Family's orchard right here in VIC and is available both in our online store and at Green Mumma HQ.

We love the fact that this product is grown right here in Victoria, on the Mornington Penninsula and ticks all the boxes - raw, biodynamic, unfiltered etc. The Mock family are fourth generation Orchadists and their orchard has been certified Biodynamic since 1974.

You will also see their apples in our store (when in season).

    * Biodynamic is enhanced organic farming. For more information go to the Biodynamic Research Institute of Australia (BDRAA) website:
